    Background

Burke County Recreation Department oversees multiple facilities in Waynesboro and surrounding areas, including Jonathan Broxton Park (with eight baseball/softball fields, batting cages, pickleball courts, and playgrounds) and other dedicated fields like Ag Georgia Farm Credit Field, Rowell Electric Field, and McKinney Field. The department runs robust fall, spring, and year-round youth and adult baseball/softball programs, but space constraints and demand often limited consistent hitting practice.

    Challenge

With 21+ baseball/softball-related facilities and high participation in leagues, the county needed affordable, low-maintenance solutions to boost training capacity without large-scale construction or land acquisition.

    Solution

Since 2025, five Beast Hack modular hitting stations have been deployed across Burke County recreation sites. The stations' 10' × 10' footprint allowed easy integration into existing layouts, providing versatile training tools that support both baseball and softball with adjustable heights and rapid sport-mode changes. The self-correcting ball assembly delivers real-time swing feedback, helping players refine mechanics independently.

    Implementation

Stations were installed as permanent units (concrete bases) near key fields for convenient access during practices and open sessions. Minimal setup time enabled quick rollout, and durability ensured year-round reliability in Georgia's weather.

    Results

    • Multiplied hitting reps available to players, five stations enabled more athletes to train simultaneously compared to limited traditional cages.
    • Supported growing league participation by reducing bottlenecks during peak practice times.
    • Improved player development through consistent, feedback-rich training, benefiting youth programs and adult recreational leagues alike.
    • Cost-effective upgrade: the investment maximized existing park space without major infrastructure changes.
"Beast Hack® stations have given our players more opportunities to train effectively. They're durable, space-efficient, and make a real difference in skill improvement."
